Chewing On Glass…

A feeling like it could all end tonight
Strange feeling in the air
Everything too perfect to compare
Each day a testament to how much
I am willing to take for nothing at all
Took too long to draw these conclusions
Couldn’t last forever… time to let it go
The thoughts only for a moment before
They become replaced with another
It wouldn’t be so out of place for it to end
Now…
Sinking feeling in my chest
Strange feeling filling my lungs
Wish I knew then what made now so special
Wish I knew now what made this realization
True…

I don’t have to try to wake up… because I never went to sleep…

Tearing out the stiches
Proved to be all that I needed
Scars healed over on the skin
What’s inside no longer shows
Tore them open once again
Repeated mistakes I can’t stop
The blood no longer flows
Dead limbs can’t be restored
Hollow as I feel, empty inside
Tearing out the stiches
Death heals over, rising from the ground
Bits and pieces scraped together
To make a simulated existence
The life no longer flows beneath the skin
Hollowed out soul, nothing left
This could be yours and this could be mine
Proved to be all in my head

I know because we have been here before…

Peeling back the skin
Mask made of flesh
True colors coming through
Black and blue
Bruises run deeper than the surface
Bleeding, black, red, and green
Mistook me for something so much worse
The nature of evil isn’t skin deep
But your prejudices can’t see any further
If every life is so important… act like it…

Day 1024… still sweating to no end… My fingers sliding across the keyboard with every stroke of thought that comes to mind… No one said this was going to get any easier, but they could have if they wanted… People can say and do whatever they please within reason of course… who decides this reason is lost to me… Collective thought doesn’t seem all that collected to me… selective at best and still we haven’t left any of this behind… I’m told there is something more over the horizon… but all I can seem to see… is myself standing there lonely…
