Laws of Man…

A war of attrition
A war from within
A never ending battle
A cycle of want and need
Perpetuated by my incestuous greed
The moth flutters… into the light
It is only a matter of time
Before we all realize how we die
A war with only one casualty
A war from within
A never ending battle
A cycle of lust and hate
Perpetuated by incestuous need to destroy
The mosquito sucks… feeds on life
It is only a matter of time
Before we all realize why we lie
A war of sacrifice
A war from within
A never ending battle
A cycle of life and death
Perpetuated by the laws of man

Chewing On Glass

Found this laying around in some of my older stuff… felt relevant to the current situations happening all around the world… even if it wasn’t written to be… I’m not going to get all political… If that is how you see this poem… I won’t stop you… Art is subjective after all…

For me this was written about relationships in general… That feeling that rages inside of you when you’ve been slighted by either a co-worker… a friend… or someone you love… This poem is about our nature to make things bigger than they really are inside our heads…

This wasn’t written to be super deep in meaning… Looking back though it does feel a lot deeper than I ever intended… It almost feels too personal to talk about and like I am giving a part of myself away…

As a writer… as a person… it feels like we should always have the answers to the thoughts floating around in our heads… and often for me… I don’t… I feel things and I write them down…

Personally I don’t get outwardly angry very often… I don’t start shouting or expressing myself at all really… Not saying I haven’t before… but it is very rare for me…

Instead I harbor my anger or frustration and let it fester until whatever was bothering me is so much bigger than it needed to be… You know like most people… as if by the laws of man…
